As a relative new comer to the Mater, Crystal Gibbon has had an interesting and steep learning curve into the health industry.
"I have learnt so much and look at the health industry in a completely different light than I did a year ago,’’ she said.
"One of the first things I thought working in a ward was `I wish I had done nursing’, she said.

Crystal had spent about eight years working in retail and retail management when she decided she needed a career change and applied for a position at the Mater.
As a ward clerk, Crystal provides administrative assistance to the nursing staff.
"I have really expanded my knowledge – I love it, it’s so interesting,’’ she said.
Since graduating from St Margaret Mary’s College in 2010, Crystal has had an exciting journey becomming a mother of 2 and now studying a Behavioral Science degree.
"I am not sure what I will do with my degree once I finish. No matter what I think it is handy in your everyday life to understand more about people and their behaviours,’’ she said.
Spending quality time in the great outdoors with her family is a priority for Crystal on weekends.
"We are always riding bikes or going down to the beach or park– as long as we are together and outside we have fun,’’ she said.
